Meet Jia Wen Yang
Hi there! I'm Jia Wen Yang, the artist and heart behind Art by JWY. I'm a stay-at-home mom who rediscovered the magic of creating art through the eyes of my daughter.
Our art sessions started simply—crayons on paper, finger paints on everything (including the walls!). But somewhere between the giggles and the glitter, I found my own creative voice again. Now, creating art has become our special time together, a daily ritual of imagination and joy.
Each piece you see here carries a story. Some are inspired by nature walks with my little one, others by the beautiful chaos of motherhood. The Pink Robin, for instance, was sketched while my daughter pointed excitedly at birds in our backyard.
Art by JWY is my way of sharing these moments with you—one piece at a time, one day at a time.
How It All Started
Before becoming a mom, I always loved art but never made time for it. Life got busy—work, responsibilities, the usual adult things. My sketchbooks gathered dust in a closet.
Then my daughter came along, and everything changed. Watching her discover colors for the first time, seeing her face light up when she made her first scribble—it reminded me why I fell in love with creating in the first place.
One rainy afternoon, while she napped, I picked up my colored pencils again. I drew a little bird we'd seen at the park. It wasn't perfect, but it felt right. That was the first piece of what would become Art by JWY.
Now, I challenge myself to create something new every day. Some days it's a quick sketch, other days it's a more detailed piece. But every single one is made with love, often with tiny fingers "helping" add the finishing touches.
